How do I get a LTC?

1. Are you eligible? Check here.

2. Fill out the DPS online State Application here.

3. Schedule and complete your fingerprinting online - Only if you have completed the online application. If you chose to fill out the hard copy downloadable forms you will need to wait until DPS mails you a letter instructing you to proceed to this step.

4. Register to take the class.

5. What is the cost? The class fee is different from the DPS processing fee.

• $100 Initial Class 

DPS Processing Fee

• $40 Initial License - (Individuals who do not meet the requirements for any discounts)
• $25 Military Veteran - (Individuals honorably discharged from military service).
• $40 Seniors - (Individuals who are at least 60 years of age at the time of application).
• $0 Active Duty - (Individuals currently serving in the military OR who were honorably discharged within the last 365 days).
